HM Hospital reinforces its commitment to Galician Healthcare by opening in A Coruña of the HM Ronda de Nelle Polyclinic, strengthening this hospital group’s care capacity in the city. The President of HM Hospitales inaugurated this new centre, Dr Juan Abarca Cidón, and the Minister of the Presidency of the Xunta de Galicia, Diego Calvo Pouso.
Also attending the inauguration were the Xunta’s Delegate in A Coruña, Belén do Campo; the President of the Medical Association, Luciano Vidán; and the President of the Nursing Association, Avelino Castro, among other healthcare sector representatives.
With a budget of €2.5 million, renovation work on the new centre began last July to adapt the space to HM Hospitales’ needs. The premises consist of two interconnected floors totalling nearly 1,000 square metres, housing 21 consulting rooms and a Radiology area with Conventional Radiology and a 1.5 Tesla MRI Scanner, complementing the technological equipment of the nearby HM Modelo Hospital.
The President of HM Hospitales expressed great satisfaction following the opening of this new polyclinic, “as it has required tremendous effort to launch, both in terms of investment and, above all, the organisational challenge it has represented. Moreover, it allows us to subsequently implement a series of changes at HM Modelo that would otherwise be virtually unviable. All this with the patient in mind, addressing their needs to offer the best service and remain a benchmark in private healthcare in A Coruña and Galicia.”
For his part, the Minister of the Presidency of the Xunta de Galicia thanked “HM Hospitales’ commitment to Galicia, as it’s the second region where the Group has the strongest presence after Madrid” and highlighted HM Hospitales as “an example of public-private collaboration.”
The HM Ronda de Nelle Polyclinic offers a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialities. Medical specialities include Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Haematology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Psychology, Psychiatry and Rheumatology. In contrast, surgical specialities include General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Vascular Surgery, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, ENT and Urology. Following this opening, all consultations for these specialities, previously conducted at HM Modelo, will now take place at this new polyclinic, freeing up space at HM Modelo and thus enabling a series of renovations as part of the Group’s policy of continuous improvement in patient care.
With this inauguration, HM Hospitales now operates in A Coruña through five centres, forming a healthcare network that functions as an integrated health system: HM Modelo, HM Belén Maternity Hospital, and the HM Matogrande, HM Belén and HM Ronda de Nelle Polyclinics. Furthermore, this network is interconnected with all other HM hospital centres in Spain, sharing systems and processes that make everything function as a single hospital. HM Hospital employs over 500 people in A Coruña and over 800 throughout Galicia.
