• Cesur and HM Hospitales are investing in Barcelona to open a new state-of-the-art center for healthcare vocational training. This partnership strengthens the leading official vocational training center’s commitment to quality education.
• The new jointly-operated center will span 3,000 square meters and accommodate 1,200 students, generating over 120 direct and indirect jobs.
• Students will undertake practical training at the hospitals and polyclinics owned by the hospital group in the Catalan capital and will join its employment pool upon completing their training.
In recent years, Catalonia has seen a significant increase in demand for vocational training. According to the Catalan Education Council, the number of students in higher vocational education has increased by 41.09%, from about 82,000 in the 2018-2019 academic year to almost 116,000 in 2021-2022. The rising demand, coupled with a shortage of healthcare professionals, has prompted Cesur to strengthen its strategic collaboration with HM Hospitales, the nationally renowned private hospital group. Together, they have announced the opening of Cesur HM Barcelona, a cutting-edge center dedicated to healthcare training.
Cesur HM Barcelona emerges as a beacon of knowledge, offering a wide selection of official and accredited training cycles in the healthcare field. The center’s catalog includes 5 higher education cycles (Health Documentation and Administration, Pathological Anatomy and Cytopathology, Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory, Imaging for Diagnosis and Nuclear Medicine, and Dental Hygiene) and 3 intermediate cycles (Nursing Care Assistance, Pharmacy and Parapharmacy, and Emergency Health Care).
This synergy between the two institutions provides exceptional opportunities for students, who will have guaranteed internships at the prestigious hospitals and polyclinics of HM Hospitales in Barcelona. Moreover, upon completing their training, the students will join the hospital group’s employment pool in the Catalan capital. From the first course they will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with each of the HM Hospitales’ healthcare facilities in Catalonia and immerse themselves in the realities of healthcare through personalized guidance from healthcare professionals, thus enriching their educational experience and preparing them for the challenges of the sector.
Creating More Than 120 New Jobs
The new jointly-operated center will span 3,000 square meters and accommodate 1,200 students, generating over 120 direct and indirect jobs.
“Opening this new center with HM Hospitales allows us to offer our students the best training in the healthcare field and provide a new unique and quality academic offering to the city and province,” comments Carlos Martín, General Director of Cesur.
Javier García Isasi, National Manager of the HM Institute of Vocational Training, emphasizes the strategic pillars of the training program, which are based on, “the involvement of healthcare professionals with the students, enhancing their development and providing them with up-to-date training immersed in today’s healthcare realities. For this, they are guaranteed practical training in our healthcare centers, where they will be part of a specialized work environment focused on providing patients with the highest quality care. In addition, they will be mentored and guided by a reference professional at all times.”
This strategic partnership reflects Cesur and HM Hospitales’ joint commitment to excellence in education and professional growth in the health field, laying the foundation for a promising future in training healthcare professionals in Catalonia.
Dr. Lidón Millá, Territorial Director of HM Hospitales in Catalonia, states, “For us, the agreement with Cesur is of great importance as having a portfolio of new professionals who can fill the vacancies in our centers will provide us with greater agility in covering them, especially in the adaptation process, as having been trained in our centers, they will already be familiar with the patient care protocols and will have incorporated our values and philosophy.”
