HM CIEC appoints Dr. Javier Sanz Salvo, from the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, to its Advanced Cardiac Imaging teams

• Dr. Sanz Salvo has developed and directed the Cardiovascular MRI/CT Clinical Program at ‘Mount Sinai’ Hospital in New York and has been an Associate Professor of Cardiology and Radiology at the ‘Icahn School of Medicine’ at Mount Sinai.

• The arrival of Dr. Javier Sanz to the advanced cardiac imaging team consolidates HM CIEC as the national reference in cardiac imaging in Cardiovascular MRI/CT, in the clinical, teaching and research fields.

Dr. Javier Sanz Salvo as a member of the Advanced Cardiac Imaging team from the prestigious ‘Mount Sinai’ Hospital in New York. With this new incorporation, HM CIEC consolidates its leading position in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease in Cardiology in Spain by welcoming one of the most prominent experts in cardiac imaging, specifically Magnetic Resonance (MRI) and Computed Axial Tomography (CAT), and reinforces its potential in image research and teaching.

Dr. Sanz Salvo also manages the development of the Cardiovascular MR/CT Clinical Program at the ‘Mount Sinai’ Hospital in New York, of which he was appointed director in 2012. In addition, he has been an associate professor of Cardiology and Radiology at the ‘Icahn MountSinai School of Medicine’. Dr. Sanz has extensive experience in cardiac imaging, interpreting more than 60,000 CT studies and 20,000 MRI studies and training more than 100 imaging residents and fellows. From an academic perspective, he is the author of more than 100 original research publications in high-impact journals, such as ‘Circulation’, ‘JACC’ or ‘European Heart Journal’, in addition to multiple reviews and book chapters. Dr. Sanz has also been Image coordinator of the PESA study at the National Cardiac Research Center (CNC), associate editor of the scientific journal ‘JACC’ and editorial consultant at ‘JACC Cardiovascular Imaging’.

With Dr. Sanz Salvo, the research, care and teaching role of HM CIEC is enhanced with special emphasis on exploring and increasing all the possibilities offered by CT and cardiac MRI, not only for coronary studies, but also for structural, aortic or without coronary. The possibility of integrating a team of excellent and reference professionals in the Cardiac Imaging Unit of HM CIEC together with cutting-edge technology from HM Hospitales represents a turning point for imaging in Spain.
